An 18×22 room fits 6, 12, or 18 recliners. The maximum 3-row configuration seats 18 (three rows of 6) with 10.75 inches clearance each side and 5.5 ft behind the rear row. The 2-row configuration seats 12 with 8 ft behind the rear row — the most comfortable rear-row access of any room in this guide.
In a 16×20 room, 3 rows require compact 3 ft row depth (seats cannot fully recline). In an 18×22 room, the 18.5 ft usable depth accommodates standard 4 ft rows with 2.5 ft risers, so all three rows can recline to their standard depth. More seats per row (6 vs 5), more side clearance, and better comfort throughout.
The rear row in a 3-row 18×22 setup is approximately 15–16 ft from the screen. A 160–200 inch laser projector screen is ideal. At 15 ft viewing distance, a 180 inch screen subtends a natural 40–45 degree viewing angle — genuinely immersive for all 18 seats. Laser projectors (Epson LS series, BenQ W, Optoma UHZ) are the only practical choice at this screen size.
