Placing 4 seats in the back row and 3 seats in the front row is one of the most effective multi-row home cinema arrangements. By narrowing the front row to 3 seats, you create natural funneled side walkways near the screen entrance while focusing the front VIP center seat directly on the screen's visual and acoustic sweet spot.
⚠ Room Depth Requirement: Two-row recliner configurations require a minimum room depth of 18 feet (5 ft front screen clearance + 6 ft front row + 7 ft rear platform from the rear wall; front-row eye view about 11 ft, no passage behind the back row).
Choose a 6, 6½ or 7 ft rear platform. The back row sits on it against the rear wall (13–15″ riser, no passage behind), and the front row sits flush at the platform edge — so a deeper platform gives the back row more legroom and moves the front row closer to the screen. On full recline only the backrest moves back about 6″. Common-arm rows keep each row narrower.

Room width: the back row at standard size is 123.5″ (10.3 ft); add about 2 ft for a side aisle, so plan for a room at least 12.3 ft wide, or choose 22″ seats to save 10.5″.
